Went to Reef-A-Palooza yesterday with the wife and now I am rethinking...EVERYTHING. Gonna break down the saltwater tank and start from scratch! Vic out
Well, since we added Charlie the little tridacna maxima clam, levels have flatlined as hoped. Alkalinity has stabilized at 9.1 for the past 5 days...a new record. Calcium flatlined at 425ppm and Magnesium at 1340ppm. Now to deal with the red slime cyanobacteria attacking the GSP...
Resetting Calc Alk and Magnesium to only 5 ppm a day divided into 8 times a day. Since Alkalinity keeps rising for no apparent reason. Maybe equal parts of 2 parts divided into the same amounts each day might be a good start. Or not...
12 days ago I received my UFO light and already, today, I have to consider trimming back my CHAETO ALGAE...I finally found a fuge light that frickin kicks arse! 210watt
I did my testing 3 to 4 hours later than normal and all my readings are much higher. I went ahead and lowered my calcium and magnesium dosing by 1 ppm each and increased their frequency to 12 and 24 times each (divided into). To see if we have any affects tomorrow morning. I also did a 3 cup water change this morning, so who knows whats gonna happen. Stability is not the order for the day. Had to make some more Kalkwasser today as well. Geez...shocking!
